CHRISTMAS IN MY HEART

Christmas In My Heart

This is such a special time of year - a season of family and friends and giving and sharing. And it is so special to share it with other quilting bloggers. We have our own special gift, Marian of Seams To Be Sew , who shares her energy and expertise in planning the Christmas Heart blog hop.

Christmas is everywhere. On a trip to Frenchies, our local second hand store, I spotted a Minnie Mouse on a child's shirt.

I thought such pretty design would make a cute hanging.

The latest issue of American Patchwork and Quilting featured a pattern for a Christmas Cottage table runner which proved impossible to resist. I love the little houses.

The colors are much richer but it was such a grey day out that all the pictures are muted.

It is fun stitching using all the colors in one design. This starry mat will function well all year. Christmas does not always have to be red and green.

This is a split nine patch which used up lots of Christmas stash. I made the top several years ago and it entered the UFO pile. I am happy to report a finished quilt (and one less UFO yea!!)
A flannel backing makes this really cozy for snuggling.

And I could not resist stitching Marian Pena's gift of a Christmas Star (free pattern) on my Sunbonnet Sue block. Thank you for the star.

So brew some tea and spend time exploring  new Christmas Love creations on today's blogs.

Merry Christmas

SUE REMEMBERS

SUE REMEMBERS

As we celebrate Remembrance Day on November 11 I thought it would be appropriate that Sunbonnet Sue wear a poppy.

I have always liked Sunbonnet Sue and when I came across an old 2005 Patchwork Quilting magazine with a pattern for a years worth of Sunbonnet Sue I found a new project.

Sunbonnet Sue dates from early 1900 and were first illustrations in a children's story book.

I think I am going to have fun with Sue. My intention is to work from scraps and to complete a few of these each week.

The Stitching Witch Rides Again

Halloween Haunts

When witches go riding,  and black cats are seen,
the moon laughs and whispers, ‘tis near Halloween.

Welcome to the Halloween Haunts Blog Hop.

Halloween Haunts 2015

A special thank you to Marian at Seams To be Sew who has worked so hard to keep all her spooky spirits organized and inspired.

Cats and ghosts are happy neighbors on this candle mat. I found the pattern - Hiding In The Pumpkin Patch - as a October BOM at So Sew Easy. And my cat with his huge button eyes might well be related to the Scary Cat appearing regularly on face book.

A few years ago I was given this sweet panel by a friend who was sorting her fabric. Lucky me.

I love the old fashion look of the Halloween characters.

I added blocks and borders. Found the coordinating fabric in my stash. Yeah!!!

I think this might become a favorite couch quilt. It has already survived an afternoon nap.

I am an apron wearer and could not resist this.  Easy stitching when all you have to do is cut along the edge. Will be perfect for serving treats to the goblins.

These place mats could easily qualify for a way to use ugly fabric contest.

How can you not love cats on quilts. And this cat will not make you sneeze.  I could not resist nesting him on a Halloween quilt. This  is an October Block of The Month pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop .

So pour another cuppa and visit the other stitchers on today's blog hop:

And along with the fun and inspiration we get from blog hopping at the Halloween Haunts we are really lucky to have a chance to win a $25:00 gift certificate from the Fat Quarter Shop. For a chance to win the gift certificate leave a comment and enter the drawing at Marians at Seams To be Sew. Wishing you all a spooky wonderful day of haunting the blogs.

P.S.  All these leaves were on trees two days ago. A little breeze, a bit of rain  and the yard has a new carpet. Beautiful but they steal time from stitching.

Just a note to tell you that my blog is officially haunted. When I checked the blog I noticed that some of the script is black in white boxes, some is white on the black page and very little of it is in the same size font.  Not very pretty.  Must be the ghouls fault. :(

Halloween Haunts

Halloween Haunts On The Horizon

As part of a Fall Sensations swap I received these lovely squares in the mail last week. Cannot wait to create.

They truly blended with the changing foliage around my house.

My stitching this week revolved around witches and spooks as I got ready for the Halloween Haunts Blog Hop. My day will be Wednesday. I think I am already spooked because there is no way the logo will center on the page :(

Oh Look I got two logos! Truly a spooked post. And since they keep disappearing no way am I trying to change them again.

So enjoy our transition before we have to hear that truly spooky "S" word  SNOW

See you on Wednesday for lots of haunted posts.
