QUILTING CATS

QUILTING CATS

 Spotted this cat-themed sampler last week at Oh Fransson. This is a block-a-day for 25 days with a different variation of a simple pieced block each day. A basket full of Xmas scraps made shopping in the stash easy. And each cat pattern has their own cat name. Meet Ralphio.

WICKED

WICKED

 MR OCTOBER

Welcome to the world of Wicked. If this is truly a Wicked hop we must start with a pin-up and Mr October fills the bill.   A truly ghoulish hop where stitchers languish with witches and bats in a sewing room controlled by Mdm. Samm and cheerleader Wendy .

And they are all singing the Song of the Witches:

Double, double toil and trouble;

Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and bling-worms sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon's blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.

 Every witch needs to be properly prepared to serve brew. These tea towels are sweet hostess gifts.  Easily stitched with fabric and a bit of lace. I love words on fabric.

Could not resist this cheerful crossbones and skulls fabric.

Layered it and quilted it using painters tape to keep the stitching straight.  I find that the tape removes easily without leaving any residue.

The latest edition of Quilter's World had a pattern for an e-Reader Tech Bag. Perfect gift for a young friend.

 Trick or Treat bags for all the Halloween night loot.

Mr October began his journey last fall but just left the UFO pile last week. Could be the reason he is down to bones.

 Perfect buttons for Mr October.

Very simple ghostly pillow.

 With all those spooky fabrics I could not avoid a Halloween quilt. It reached the flimsy stage so might be cozy by next Halloween.

Unfortunately the Grim Ripper does not restrict her visits to only Halloween and haunts my home too much during the year. The Grim Ripper is a free pattern from Love of Quilting.

Sew while the witch prepares a magic brew grab your broom and fly over to visit the other hoppers.

 And remember there will always be room for a stitching witch.

Three Little Witches

One little, two little, three little witches.
Fly over haystacks, fly over ditches.
Fly over moonbeams without any hitches.
Hey, Ho, Halloween Night!

One little, two little, three little witches.
Fly over barb wire and tore their britches.
Had to go home and get some stitches.
Hey, Ho, Halloween Night!

FLOWER POWER

FLOWER POWER

Welcome to Twisting With The 60's Batik blog hop.  Such fun and so many memories. I have been humming and grooving for days. We have been well led by Madame Samm (Sew We Quilt) and her cheerleader Mary (1 Piece 2-Mary) as they drive their Love Bug filled with Flower Children in search of Island Batik and their lovely fabrics.

Flowers, tie-dyed fabrics and peace symbols define the era without words.

 I am now the proud owner of a flower pincushion.

I am sure the 60's would assume a Mug Rug could be something for feet but mine will come in useful when I am stitching.  As will the sewing caddy.

One wonderful legacy of the Hippie movement is the Peace symbol. It has stood the test of time.

I just might be considered Cool in my necklace created from Yo-yo's stitched in batik fabric.

When I started this my intention was a cheerful tie-dyed Dresden Plate Flower for a little table centerpiece.

But it grew and became more cheerful.

Maybe a bed skirt ....

It kept growing and might still get another border. It is difficult to choose border fabric because I used bright, not perfectly matching colors together. A Flower Child quilt for sure.  Should become a nice lap quilt.

I began another Batik project but time intervened. The fabrics were too beautiful not to show you. This has good vibrations and will not remain on the UFO list too long.

Thank you for visiting the quilting caravan.  Sew climb aboard the Love Bug , pour a cuppa tea and join the other Flower Children.

Frances
