FROSTY SNOWMAN

FROSTY THE SNOWMAN QUILT

Nothing like a cozy quilt for a chilly winter afternoon.

Frosty the Snowman

Frosty the Snowman was a jolly happy soul.
With a corn cob pipe and a button nose and
Two eyes made out of coal.
Frosty the Snowman is a fairy tale, they say,
He was made of snow, but the children know how he
came to life one day.

There must have been some magic in that old silk
hat they found.
For when they placed it on his head,
he began to dance around.

Oh, Frosty the Snowman was alive as he could be,
And the children say he could laugh and play
just the same as you and me.

Thumpety, thump, thump, thumpety, thump, thump.
Look at Frosty go.
Thumpety, thump, thump, thumpety, thump, thump.
Over the hills of snow.

I love the coziness of this quilt. From all the snowman prints to the flannelette backing it calls snuggling

I won these penguins at a BC supper. It was cool enough for them to wear toques.

Welcome to my world.

CAPE BRETON XMAS QUILT

CAPE BRETON XMAS QUILT

This is another of my Xmas gift quilts. The pattern came from Irish Quilting magazine. As soon as I saw the pattern I knew I had to stitch it.

This happy Santa has so much character

This could easily become another quilt. Loved the pattern.

Twelve Days of Christmas

Twelve Days of Christmas

A few years ago I stitched Xmas quilts for my sisters.

I called this quilt "A Song for Mary"  because she knows the words to so much music and this song seemed right for her.

The Twelve Days of Christmas" is an English Christmas carol that sings of a series of increasingly grand gifts given on each of the twelve days of Christmas. It was first published in England in 1780 and traditionally began the first day after Xmas ending with the Epiphany on January 6.

The modern Twelve Days of Xmas needs a Santa to bring old traditions together in this quilt.

HOLIDAY LANE

HOLIDAY LANE

Welcome to The Holiday Lane pillow blog hop. Thank you to Pauline Francis for being such a lovely hostess and keeping everyone organized, to Jill Findley for the lovely pattern and to Madame Samm for creating such  interesting programs to keep us sewers constantly in creative mode.

I could not resist this delightful cookie jar today when I spotted him in the gift shop.  Villages were on my mind and the gingerbread house could happily live on Holiday Lane.

Holiday Lane could easily become a table runner.

I loved the way the flange was stitched. This was a new technique for me to learn.

Grab a cuppa and enjoy all the other pillows on the hop.

QUILTS IN A WINDOW

CELTIC CIRCLE

The windows in a reclaimed church proved a major distraction when I attended a concert at the Celtic Circle this afternoon.

 Quilt patterns galore.

In my minds eye I can see the designer as a child watching his mother quilt.

...............................

I enjoyed the music with a lovely lady. When she moved a few years ago I stitched this for her. She loved flowers.

We enjoyed pizza & wine & chocolate & tea & lots of laughs.  What a zest for life she carries with her.

MEMORIES

Memories

Memories of my mother are found in so many blocks of this quilt sewn from the house dresses she loved.

She would have been 90 today if she were still with us.

"Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Matthew 6:21

Her umbrella lady blocks were stitched into a quilt for her youngest granddaughter.

"A quilt is a blanket of love".
She stitched many blankets of love.
